Wellington OPP Initiative targets unsafe drivers

Wellington County OPP's Traffic Management Unit is targeting high problem areas throughout the region today with a zero tolerance to unsafe driving.

Through a combination of airplane surveillance and interceptor engagement, Wellington County officers are looking to correct aggressive and dangerous driving behaviours like speeding.

The zero-tolerance, traffic enforcement event is geared toward making roads safer. The two-day campaign runs through Thursday.

Motorists should also remember it's the law to slow down and move over safely when an emergency vehicle is pulled over and has emergency lights activated.

"It's not every day that we get to utilize these high-tech tools exclusively in Wellington. Rest assured that when we have the opportunity we will maximize our efforts to make our roads safer." Wellington County OPP Manager, Staff Sgt. Bruce Aitken.

If you know an area were driving safety is an issue, please call OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or your local police service
