Seasonal staff shortage in North Perth

North Perth is looking at solutions to address a shortage of seasonal staff.

CAO Kris Snell said in recent years the municipality has had trouble attracting qualified seasonal staff as the local labour market shrinks.

"We have been looking at opportunities where we can combine seasonal work that offsets each other," said Snell. "So, can we essentially hire one full-time position to do two seasons’ worth of work for us?"

North Perth will hire a full-time staff member to assume duties at the cemetery as well as winter operations.

"We will still need seasonal workers, both in our recreational facilities as well as our winter operations and public works, so we will still be looking for seasonal staff," said Snell.

Interested people should check the North Perth website for job postings in late summer and early spring every year.
