The co-chair of the local organizing committee for last weekend's Ontario Heritage Conference says the event was a huge success.
Roma Harris said attendance for the event, which was hosted jointly by Bluewater and Goderich, far exceeded expectations. About 15 per cent of the people attending the event were local, and the rest came from all over Ontario.
"All these little groups stepped up and they organized events to treat the delegates to some really special things that are there to be seen and appreciated across the whole of Bluewater and Goderich and, in fact, across Huron County," said Harris.
She pointed to the Hess Clock in Zurich as an example of the treasures that are tucked away and unknown to most people but were fascinating for the people that climbed up to the top of the tower.
"One of the important functions that the Heritage Conference performs is that it is a venue in which you can educate people who are on heritage committees and people who are members of municipal councils and municipal staff about the value of heritage," she said.
