Goderich dispute leads to weapons and assault charges

Huron County OPP officers took a man into custody following a domestic dispute in Goderich early this morning.

At about 4 a.m. responded to a Gibbons Street residence for a domestic-related disturbance.

Police investigators allege the suspect became agitated and threatened his partner with an edged weapon.

At this point, an adult family member intervened and was stabbed resulting in a non-life threatening injury.

The suspect left the home, and was locked out, but forced his way back inside and continued to cause a disturbance.

Police arrived on scene shortly thereafter and were able to take the male into custody without incident.

A 26-year-old male from Huron East has been charged with assault with a weapon, aggravated assault, and break & enter.

He remains in custody with a court appearance scheduled for the Ontario Court of Justice in Goderich on March 25, 2019.
