UPDATE: Number of power outages growing

Updated at 3:40 a.m. Monday, February 25

Thousands of people are without power across southern Ontario and other parts of the province.

Hydro One crews continue to respond, assess and fix outages caused by high winds.

Most of the outages are happening because of branches falling on lines.

Clusters of outages are spread out throughout Huron, Perth, Bruce and Grey counties. Estimated restoration times do stretch into late Monday afternoon.

The high winds are expected to continue through tonight as wind warnings are still in place. There is also a blizzard warning for Huron, Bruce, Grey and northern Wellington.

The Arthur Community Centre and Sportsplex in Fergus as well as the Dundalk area have been opened up as warming centres.
