Huron Health Unit offers education session on new P.S.S. regulation

Owners and employees of Personal Service Settings are adjusting to a new provincial regulation, and the Huron County Health Unit is offering to help.

The regulation covers settings that provide personal services, including hairdressing and barbering, massages, nail services, piercings, tattooing, and skin care services. It sets out the requirements that owners and operators must offer safe services and reduce the risk of infection to the public and personal service workers.

A key difference is that Public Health Inspectors are now able to issue provincial offence tickets and impose fines if operators are not in compliance with the regulation.

The Huron County Health Unit is offering a free education session about the regulation to those who provide these services. The first session is Monday, November 5 from 9 a.m. until noon. The second one is Monday, November 19 from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

To register, call Deb at 519-842-3416 or 1-877-837-6143 before October 29.

"Regulations can be challenging to understand," said Public Health Inspector Roxana Nassiri. "So this November the Huron County Health Unit is offering a free educational session on the new regulation to PSS owners, operators and staff."

There is more information and further updates on the Huron County Health Unit Facebook page.
