Multiple Concerns About Proposed Mount Forest Subdivision

Wellington North council got a look at a draft plan of subdivision for a 411-home subdivision at the south end of Mount Forest known as the Murphy Property.

The project has been on the go since 2007 and neighbours gave Wellington North council an earful about concerns ranging from fencing, water run-off, walking trails to the need for a playground and traffic access to Hwy. 6.

"It's size certainly is intimidating relative to other projects we've done in our community," said Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox. "And we're going to do the same things we've done on smaller ones to try to make sure we get them right."

The subdivision is still in the concept stage and some major issues must be resolved before it can proceed, including a turning lane on Hwy. 6 and cost sharing for a sewage pumping station.
