Councilllors for Ashfield-Colborne-Wawanosh have approved the budget for 2018.
Reeve Ben Van Diepenbeek says the budget contains a 1.9% rate increase and that raises $360,000 more in revenue than they raised last year. But he adds with the increase in assessment, the impact on an average homeowner in A-C-W will be a decrease of 1.1% in their property tax.
Van Diepenbeek points out they've got some fairly ambitious projects scheduled for this year, including money for the Wingham and District Hospital Foundation, the Alexandra Marine and General hospital, council chamber renovations and also 35,000 for this year's municipal election.
They've also designated $100,000 for the Lucknow Fire Department for a new rescue truck, $180,000 for renovations to the Lucknow Medical Centre and close to $100,000 for repairs and maintenance to the Lucknow Arena.
