The Special Investigations Unit has invoked its mandate after a situation in Perth East.
Police were called out to a property on Perth Line 49 early Saturday evening at around 5 p.m. between Perth Rds 135 and 140 southwest of Milverton.
The area was blocked by police for several hours.
SIU officials say police officers had an interaction with the man on his property and at some point, officers fired plastic bullets at the man. The man died shortly after from an apparent gunshot wound.
The SIU investigates reports involving police where there has been either death, serious injury or an allegation of sexual assault.
