Minto has passed its 2018 budget, which when combined with county and school tax rates, will result in an average ratepayer paying an extra 3.6% or $104.
The Minto budget is responsible for about half of that increase.
The budget includes almost $8-million in capital projects, of which the biggest project is the reconstruction of Clifford’s main street for almost $4-million.
Minto will borrow $2-million to fund the road project in Clifford, as well as George St. in Harriston.
Minto will now have about $8.6-million in long-term debt. However, that is offset by almost $10-million in reserves.
Finance Chair Mary Lou Colwell noted that Minto’s reserves are in good shape.
