Owen Sound Students Cycle For Childcan

High school students in Owen Sound raised over $17,000 to help support families whose children have cancer.

Hundreds rode stationary bikes at Owen Sound District Secondary School on Thursday and had money pledged from supporters.

One of the riders was 16-year-old Reid Locking.

"It's supporting an organization in our community and it's something for a good cause and it affects so many people in our community. It's really an important event for us," says Reid.

Money raised goes to an organization called Childcan which distributes the money to help families with expenses related to their children's treatment.

"It's incredible. To see all these kids come together, all these teens, it's just incredible," says Sean Kelley with Childcan. "The support is phenomenal."

The event in Owen Sound was organized by Neal Rourke and his family. His son Brendan was an OSCVI student who died of cancer in 2012.
