ABCA Updates Clean Water Project Progress

The Ausable Bayfield Conservation Authority's stewardship manager brought Huron County council up to date on the county's Clean Water Project at Wednesday's meeting.

Kate Monk said the project is funded by the county and administered jointly by the ABCA and the Maitland Valley Conservation Authority.    The program started in 2004 and the first project sent into the ground in 2005.

Monk says when she first started providing updates she said if the wind breaks they had planted were stretched out in a straight line it would be from Exeter to Clinton.    The next year she said it would go from Exeter to Goderich.   She told county council Wednesday that line would now extend from Sarnia to Kincardine.

Monk said the program is extremely successful in Huron County and that would not be possible without the combined support of the county, the conservation authorities and the landowners.  Monk added they did 255 projects last year.
