UPDATE: Charges Laid in Wiarton Death

Ontario Provincial Police say an arrest has been made in the death of a woman in Wiarton.

OPP from the Bruce Peninsula detachment say 60-year-old Ralph Rudowski of South Bruce Peninsula has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of Janice West, 61.

West was found dead Wednesday in a home on Division St in Wiarton, and the death was initially treated as suspicious.

OPP Constable Adam Belanger says an investigation is ongoing at another residence on Division St. The OPP Bruce Peninsula Crime Unit and Forensic Identification Services are handling that part of the probe.

It was not immediately known how the suspect and victim knew each other.

Rudowski was taken into custody Sunday and will have a video court appearance at the Ontario Court of Justice in Owen Sound on Monday.

Anyone with information on this incident who has not already spoken to police is asked to call the OPP Bruce Peninsula detachment at 1-888-310-1122. Anonymous tips can be phoned into Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477 (TIPS) or submitted online.
