Stratford Hospital Getting Back To Normal

The CEO for the Huron-Perth Healthcare Alliance says everyone involved with the flu outbreaks in the Seaforth and Stratford hospitals is relieved to see them over.

Andrew Williams says the last few weeks have been a challenge for staff at both hospitals

“We were pleased to call the outbreak at our Stratford site over this past Saturday. A long haul obviously for everybody involved and nice to be able to make that confirmation and get back to business as usual on our inpatient units,” explains Williams. "It's tough when these things happen and you do your best to minimize them, but we do have to wait eight days between when we can actually declare an outbreak over and the latest hospital-acquired case.”

The outbreak at the Seaforth hospital was declared over a couple of weeks ago. Williams explains they have to wait eight days after the latest hospital-acquired case before they can declare the outbreak over.
