Man on Canada-Wide Warrant Nabbed at RIDE Check

An impaired-driving check has resulted in the arrest of a man wanted on a Canada-wide warrant.

The man, identified as 32-year-old Daniel Goulden of Loyalist Township, approached an OPP RIDE program in North Perth, accompanied by a female companion.

But the pair fled from their vehicle and ran into the nearby woods.

An extensive search involving the OPP from the Perth, Wellington and Huron detachments, Perth County Paramedic Services and the North Perth Fire Department ensued.    The teamwork resulted in the pair being apprehended a short time later.

Goulden was taken to hospital for an assessment, then charged with fleeing from police, driving while disqualified, possession of methamphetamine for the purpose of trafficking, possession of property obtained by crime under $5000, failure to produce a permit, driving without insurance, and failure to wear a seatbelt.

Goulden has been remanded into custody.    The female was arrested and later released, police say.
