Provincial police are urging local residents to use caution when dealing with unsolicited service offers at the door.
Earlier this week, three men showed up at a residence on Proton St. N in Dundalk, asking to be allowed in to check pipes in the basement for water filters. The homeowner was suspicious and turned them away before calling police.
The suspects -- two Caucasian and one with darker skin colour -- were said to be in their 20s. One was wearing a silver-coloured winter jacket with a fur hood. Two of them were carrying clip boards. Police searched the area, but were not able to find the trio.
The OPP recommend that if someone comes to your door, ask to see some identification. And remember, you do not have to let them in -- and they must leave when asked.
