The Village of Blyth could be in for a population spike if a proposed 16-lot subdivision in the North St. and Queen St. area comes to fruition.
Local residents attended North Huron Council Monday evening, bringing a variety of issues to the table as planners try to move ahead with the six-block layout that would see North St. extended, as well as space for a proposed retirement home.
Planning Consultant Ron Davidson says public meetings are providing several points of clarification in the planning process, with most residents at council saying they support the subdivision, provided their concerns are dealt with which include storm drainage issues, and increased traffic.
Many comments focused on what residents called "The Whitfield Drain", saying this drain has broken down in spots and is inefficient to carry amounts of water that would need to be carried if there is a spike in local population.
North Huron Council deferred a decision until their next meeting when a complete list of conditions for draft approval will be brought back for consideration.
