Chippewas Of Nawash Elder Passes Away

A renowned Chippewas of Nawash elder has died.

Wilmer Nadjiwon passed away Wednesday at the age of 96.

Nadjiwon was an author, second world war veteran, residential school survivor as well as a celebrated wood carver and former chief of the Chippewas of Nawash.

A sacred fire is burning in his honour at the Maadookii Seniors' Centre.

A funeral for Nadjiwon will be held Saturday morning at 11am at the Neyaashiinigming Community Centre at Cape Croker.
