North Huron Reeve Predicts Photo Radar Will Return

Some members of North Huron council feel photo radar could be the solution to slow down speeding drivers.

Councillor Bill Knott asked staff to investigate photo radar's feasibility in the municipality.  Knott pointed to traffic concerns in Blyth as one example of areas that could be made safer with the presence of photo radar.

Knott did note that approval would be needed from Huron County.

Reeve Neil Vincent says he's heard from sources that photo radar is on it's way back, and could be in place across the province in less then a year.

The NDP government of Bob Rae brought in photo radar in 1994, but it was scrapped 11 months later after Progressive Conservative Mike Harris campaigned to end the program.
