Arthur Treatment Plant Upgrade Approved

Wellington North is going ahead with plans for a $15-million upgrade to the Arthur Waste Water Treatment Plant.

The present plant is about 30 years old and at full capacity, creating a development freeze in the village.

Council heard Monday that despite the age of the existing plant, the bones of the structure are still good.

Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox called the project a “high priority."

The timing of the two-phase reconstruction will depend on the availability of government grants, but one way or the other there should be some new capacity by the end of 2019.
