Union Gas Insists Natural Gas Is An Affordable Option For Perth East

Union Gas wants to ensure residents in Perth East realize that initial costs to switch to natural gas should pay off in the long run.

Residents in Milverton, Wartburg and Rostock will soon have access to natural gas, after the Ontario Energy Board approved an expansion plan.

Union Gas District Manager Steven Jelich says people can save up to 30% a year compared to propane or oil, without the worry of on site storage tanks. He adds customers who heat with electricity could save up to 50% by switching.

Jelich says homeowners who do convert, may be eligible for up to $5,000 in rebate for retrofits and renovations.  Some customers may also be entitled to free home improvements to save energy.

Residents can go to SaveWithGas.com to learn more.

Last week, the Canadian Propane Association suggested the costs of switching to natural gas could outweigh the savings.
