Saugeen Shores Will Display Memorial Banners For Remembrance Day

Saugeen Shores plans to hang commemorative banners throughout the community prior to each Remembrance Day, starting this fall.

The Municipal Heritage Committee and the local Royal Canadian Legions want to hang the banners to recognize past residents who made the ultimate sacrifice to protect our freedom.

The Group is collecting pictures of the local heroes who lost their lives in the First and Second World War.

Family members are being asked to provide pictures and confirm names of their ancestors if possible.

The banners for Port Elgin will cost $115, while the Southampton Banners will cost $150.

Those interested in providing pictures or sponsoring a banner, please contact Deputy Clerk Tracey Edwards at the Town of Saugeen Shores office, at 519-832- 2008 ext. 105.
