The Municipality of Bluewater has approved spending almost $100,000 for repairs to the roof of the Bayfield Arena.
Mayor Tyler Hessel explains says a little more than the $88,000 was budgeted for the project, and it's reached the stage that there were safety concerns for staff and the people who use the arena.
Hessel says these repairs, even though they are over budget, will guarantee another five years of life for the roof.
He also points out there are some serious long-term issues with the arena, and at some point there will have to be a public consultation to determine where the community wants to go with the Bayfield Arena for the future.
