The Mayor of Goderich says there wasn't a lot of support for U-S President Donald Trump or his environmental policies at the last Great Lakes Initiative conference.
Kevin Morrison says Republicans as well as Democrats were critical of the cuts to environmental projects that Trump is proposing, including dramatic cuts to protecting the Great Lakes. Morrison says one staunch Republican explained Trump has already demonstrated a propensity for tweeting outrageous statements to see what reaction they generate.
Morrison all and all he was not very popular at the conference but the good news is if he can't be persuaded to change his position on the environment his proposals will likely be opposed by enough Republicans that they won't get passed.
