Huron-Bruce MPP Says Wednesday A Time To Celebrate

Huron Bruce MPP Lisa Thompson says Wednesday is a day to celebrate the culture, history and heritage of Ontario and its First Nation, Inuit and Metis peoples.

The PC Critic for indigenous relations and reconciliation says National Aboriginal Day recognizes the contributions of those communities to the social and economic fabric of Ontario.

She says they are a rich part of our history and our future.

"As we celebrate our Indigenous friends today, we remain committed to building strong, prosperous, partnerships between Indigenous and non-Indigenous allies," says Thompson. "We look forward to learning and celebrating with you."

Thompson says the day also helps promote awareness and understanding of all aspects of indigenous culture, including art, music, dance, sport, agriculture and literature.

She says the day is instrumental in promoting our shared history, and the importance of working together for a brighter future.
