Grey County OPP say a house fire in Grey Highlands started by a pot of cooking oil left unattended on the stove.

The Municipality of Grey Highlands Fire Department was called to a home on Napoleon St in Eugenia, at around 1pm on Wednesday. Fire officials say the cooking oil started fire and the room became engulfed in flames.

Two dogs and a cat perished in the blaze.

The fire is not considered suspicious.
