Region Could See Plenty of Rain

Midwestern Ontario could see significant rainfall late Saturday and into Sunday.

Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the following areas:

  • Goderich - Bluewater - Southern Huron County
  • Wingham - Blyth - Northern Huron County
  • Listowel - Milverton - Northern Perth County
  • Stratford - Mitchell - Southern Perth County
  • Bruce Peninsula - Sauble Beach - Tobermory
  • Saugeen Shores - Kincardine - Southern Bruce County
  • Hanover - Dundalk - Southern Grey County
  • Owen Sound - Blue Mountains - Northern Grey County
  • Mount Forest - Arthur - Northern Wellington County
Forecasters are following a low-pressure system that originated from Texas.  Portions of southwestern Ontario could be soaked with rain throughout the rest of the weekend.

The weather agency says 20mm to 40mm of rain are possible by Monday morning at the latest.  Thunderstorms may be possible with this rainfall. The bulk of the rain is expected to taper off and move east Sunday, though it is possible that areas affected by the more persistent showers or thunderstorms could see up to 75mm.

Rainfall warnings may be issued as the path of this system becomes clear.  Keep following Blackburnnews.com for weather updates.
