Bruce Power Reiterates Support For Nuclear Waste Bunker

Bruce Power has told Canada's environment minister it supports Ontario Power Generation's proposed Deep Geological Repository at the Bruce Power site in Kincardine.

In May 2015, a joint review panel issued the environmental assessment (EA) report recommending the approval of the DGR for Ontario’s low and intermediate level waste to the federal government.

A news release from Bruce Power says local municipalities and science both support the project to manage the waste in the long term.

Bruce Power says it also recognize the commitment OPG has made to indigenous communities.

Bruce Power says the project is a safe and internationally accepted strategy.

Bruce Power leases the two nuclear stations from OPG.

The fate of the project is now in the hands of the environment minister.
