New Vulnerable Person Registry In Perth County

Stratford police are partnering with a couple of community organizations on the Vulnerable Person Registry.

Police says about 60% of people living with dementia-related memory problems become lost at some point.

Police hope to improve community safety by asking caregivers or family members of those living with Alzheimer's, dementia, or autism to upload information to the registry.

The registry will contain contact information, detailed physical descriptions, a photo, known routines and special needs.

The information can help police more quickly locate missing or wandering individuals.

Communications strategies will help police provide better support when they are called to assist.

The Alzheimer Society Perth County will coordinate and maintain the Stratford Branch of the Registry. Autism Ontario Huron Perth hopes residents will take advantage of the service.

The registry can be found at www.vulnerablepersonregistry.ca.
