OPP Conduct 48 RIDE Checks In One Week In Huron County

Huron County OPP set up 48 RIDE checkpoints in the first week of the Festive RIDE Campaign.

Police checked hundreds of drivers between November 24 to the 27.

A 42-year-old man from Seaforth was stopped at a checkpoint set up at the MTO Rd and Saltford Line. After two breath samples showed a warning, he was served with a three-day driver's licence suspension and his pick-up truck was towed from the scene.

Police say a Pontiac Pursuit tried to evade a RIDE check at the intersection of Kinburn Line and Front Rd. but was pulled over. The 27-year-old man of Huron East was charged with possession of marijuana.

At a RIDE check at Hwy. 4 and Blyth Rd, a 20-year-old man from Huron East and three under-aged passengers were all charged with Liquor Licence Act offences.

And in Clinton, at the RIDE check at Huron St near Erie St, a 24-year-old from Huron East was found to be driving with a suspended licence.

Huron OPP will continue with Festive RIDE checks through December to the first weekend in January.
