Snowmobilers Urged To Stay Off Trails

Midwestern Ontario may have had a first blast of winter but officials with the Ontario Federation of Snowmobile Clubs is sending out a message that it's not yet time to hit the trails.

Snowmobilers are being cautioned to keep sleds parked and stay off the trails for two reasons. The first being safety as the trails are not opened yet, and the second, to avoid trespassing on private property.

Even a short snowmobile ride can be very dangerous as conditions are not yet prime for sledding, meaning the ground, waterways and swamps are not yet frozen.

Snowmobilers are also reminded to stay off public roads and avoid trespassing on farmers’ fields.
