Shoreline Erosion Increases With High Lake Level

The high level of Lake Huron is creating problems for some of the trees along the shoreline.

Goderich Park Superintendent Martin Quinn says despite the dry summer, the lake level remains high, and erosion is threatening some of the trees close to the shoreline.

Quinn says they've lost another 5-10 ft of beach this year so they're taking stones that have been washed away and re-packing them around the root systems to protect the trees.

But he adds we're not even into the high waves situations that occur in the fall so he expects it to get worse as we approach November.
