Blyth Rural Talks To Rural Conference Taking Shape

A conference being held in Blyth at the end of September will give rural communities a chance to discuss rural issues and solutions with each other, as well as share their concerns with governments and other people outside of rural communities.

The Rural Talks To Rural Conference is being hosted by the Canadian Centre for Rural Creativity in Blyth.

Project Director Peter Smith says they have attracted over 100 people from all over Canada, the United States and overseas.

Four streams that will lead the discussions; Arts and Culture, Food and Farm, Community Revival Development, and Sustaining and Growing our Population.

Smith says over the three days of the conference there will be panel discussions about various aspects of those four streams as well as other issues.

The conference runs from September 28-30.   The closing date for registration is September 7.

More information and registrations forms can be found on the Rural Talks To Rural web site.

Smith says one of their goals is that people will come away from the conference with an action plan they can take to their home community. They also hope to establish a national rural network through the Canadian Centre for Rural Creativity where people communicate on a regular basis about common rural issues.
