Fire Ban Extends To Grey Highlands

A fire ban has been issued for the Municipality of Grey Highlands because of the extremely dry conditions.

Fire permits for open air burning, bonfires and burn barrels are not permitted until further notice.

Grey Highlands will permit small camp fires contained in a pit, tire rim or other device which is designated to burn fire wood for cooking and warmth and does not exceed 61 cm (24 in) in diameter. A reasonable method of extinguishing the fire must be provided at all times.

Anyone who fails to follow the requirements for small camp fires or found to be in violation of this burn ban could be charged and fined under the municipal bylaw. Fire department response costs could be charged to the property owner.

Fire bans remain in effect for all of Huron, Perth and Wellington counties, as well as South Bruce, and the Bruce Peninsula.
