22nd Annual Celtic Roots College Underway in Goderich

The 22nd Annual Celtic Roots College got underway at the Goderich District Collegiate Institute this (Tuesday) morning.

The College is four days of immersive education in Celtic culture leading up to the Celtic Roots Festival this weekend.

Artistic Director Kate Johnston says they have more than 300 students of all ages at the College this week receiving instruction in things like music, singing and arts from world class performers who will in most cases be performing at the Festival this weekend.

"The instructors generally are performers who would be playing at this weekend's Celtic Roots Festival so they are for the most part world class musicians; they've toured the world and they're here teaching for four days and so the level of instruction or the experience that you can get with these teachers is quite amazing," says Johnston.

The College runs from today (Tuesday) until Thursday and instructors from the College will also be performing all four nights at the performance stage in Courthouse Park.
