Swimmers Rescued by Off Duty Saugeen Shores Police Officer

The quick actions of an off-duty Saugeen Shores Police Officer helped to rescue three swimmers in distress this (Tuesday) afternoon.

In a press release, Chief Dan Rivett says Police Constable Fletcher noticed the swimmers struggling in the high waves about 100 to 150 metres from shore at Gobles Grove Beach and swam out to assist.

All three were uninjured and ended up back on shore safe and sound and refused any medical attention.

Police are also taking the time to send out a reminder that if your're driving and do see an emergency vehicle with lights flashing, to pull over, stop and let that emergency vehicle go by.

The same also applies to a vehicle with a green flashing light on the dashboard, typically driven by volunteer firefighters.
