Plenty of Interest In Wellington North Burn Bylaw Changes

There was a full house at the Kenilworth Public School to discuss changes to outdoor fires in Wellington North.

The public meeting Wednesday heard concerns, mostly from rural residents who among other things think the standard size of burn piles is too small at 10 ft by 10 ft.

They also wanted better communication between the fire department and land owners.

Concerns were raised last year when a Wellington North farmer was fined more than $6,000 for what was deemed an illegal brush pile burn.

The public can still submit written comments to Wellington North until April 21.
