West Grey Premium Beef After Fire

The owner of West Grey Premium Beef says he hopes to be back up and running in a week to ten days.

The plant near Durham was damaged by fire Saturday night. Nobody was hurt.

Owner George Maxwell figures the fire was caused by an electrical problem in a pump motor.

He says one room is severely damaged and the rest of the plant has smoke damage.

"Our losses are all basically bricks and mortar and steel and nobody was hurt. A very positive attitude around here this morning and we're moving forward," said Maxwell in an interview at the plant this morning.

He says he's made arrangement with a Toronto company to fill orders and look after his customers until West Grey Premium Beef can get back up and running.
