Harriston Road Reconstruction Projects Get Green Light

It’s full steam ahead for Minto’s first roundabout, to be located south of Harriston at White’s Road.

Earlier, there was some question whether Hydro One would relocate a hydro pole that’s in the way.

Wellington County said it would not start the roundabout unless it could be done by July, well ahead of the International Plowing Match in Minto in September.

Hydro has now assured Minto the pole will be gone, and the roundabout can go ahead on time.

Meanwhile, Minto has awarded the tender for the reconstruction of Harriston’s main street, north from the traffic lights to William Street.

Hanna and Hamilton of Listowel submitted the lowest bid of about $714,000 for the work which will start the end of April.

That project is also expected to be complete by the end of July, prior to the International Plowing Match in Minto.
