Perth Health Unit Promotes Cancer Risk Tool

The Perth District Health Unit says a new cancer screening tool will help people determine their risk level.

Daffodil Month in April promotes cancer awareness and prevention.

And Public Health Nurse Karen Bergin-Payette says it's a good time to take the online quiz, "My CancerIQ"

She says the confidential online tool allows users to rate their risk for melanoma, breast, cervical, colorectal, kidney and lung cancer.

Residents can go online to MyCancerIQ.ca and answer a series of questions, to receive a personal assessment.

The tool will compare you to with other Ontarians of the same age and sex.

You can also reduce your risk or assess the need for screening by following recommendations and links to additional resources.

Working through the quiz also helps users learn what factors help lower or increase the risk of cancer.
