Wellington North Approves 2016 Budget

Wellington North has given final approval to its 2016 budget.

It's unchanged from a Budget Open House held several weeks ago.

The $14.4-million budget will add 2.1 per cent, or $25 to the property taxes on an average single family home worth $227,000.

That increase goes up to $60 extra when county and school taxes are added in.

Wellington North Mayor Andy Lennox says it's heavy on capital spending, with $7 million earmarked for infrastructure projects such as roads and bridges.

The budget adds no new debt to the current $7-million on the books, which is being paid off at a rate of $1.25-million a year in principal and interest.
