Hundreds Attend Job Fair In Owen Sound

As many as 1,000 people looking for work turned out to a job fair in Owen Sound Thursday.

Over 70 employers were accepting resumes and interviewing prospective employees, with available jobs ranging from manufacturing and retail through social services and health care.

Aimee Rasmussen of Tara was looking for a summer job in the hospitality industry and says the job fair is making her search easier.

"It's very valuable it's so nice that all the businesses from the area are here so that we can come to one place instead of driving all over the county to look for job," says Rasmussen.

The job fair was organized by the City of Owen Sound along the 'YMCA' Employment agency.

Owen Sound's Manager of Economic Development Steve Furness says, while there are plenty of people looking for work, there are plenty of jobs.  He says it's just a matter of matching the employer with the employee, which is the purpose of the job fair.
