Avon Maitland Students Hope To Create Inclusive Environments

A student symposium gets underway tomorrow morning at the Stratford Rotary Complex.

The Avon Maitland School Board's second annual "learning Together" event will help students recognize the diverse learning needs in their classrooms.

They'll discover how to strengthen school teams to create positive inclusive environments.

The founder of the "Celebrate the Hero, and "Move for Inclusion" groups, Nick Foley, is the guest speaker.

His initiatives motivate and empower people to make a difference.

He wants to create environments of self worth, acceptance, and empowerment in communities, schools, businesses and families.

School teams involving staff and students of all abilities will collaborate throughout the day on initiatives to raise awareness.

“We look forward to hosting 150 participants this year,” states Amy Kipfer, Learning for All Coordinator. “Teams of students from all 9 Secondary Schools will come together to further the cause of inclusion within their schools and, ultimately, our society.”
