UPDATE: Collision Claims Life Of Walkerton Man

Durham St. E in Walkerton is now open following a fatal collision overnight.

Police, the Walkerton Fire Department and EMS were called to a single motor vehicle collision on Durham St. E in Walkerton.

Police say their initial investigation suggests a 2015 Chevrolet Tahoe was traveling west on Durham St. E around 1:30am this morning when it left the road and hit a light standard on the north side, before continuing down a steep embankment. The vehicle came to rest on its side in the Saugeen River.

A passenger in the vehicle was pronounced dead at the scene. He has been identified as 20-year-old Bradley Strader of Walkerton.

The driver and five other passengers, all in their 20's, were taken to a local hospital with minor injuries.

Police are still investigating the collision and are asking any witnesses to contact them.
