The Councils for the Town of Hanover and the Municipality of West Grey will look at amalgamating their two Police Services . The two Police Services Board will form a joint steering committee to look at the idea. Both Councils approved the move at their meetings last night. The Chairs of the two police boards suggested the plan. They will act as equal partners in the investigation. Their report suggests the merger would mean costs savings by eliminating duplication, while combining infrastructure, and management resources. Amalgamation could also lead to a more effective police service by increasing capacity for additional or expanded programs.
