Avon Maitland French Immersion Survey

Trustees of the Avon Maitland District School Board have asked staff to create a survey to gauge the level of interest in an expanded French Immersion program among parents throughout the Avon Maitland school community.

Director Ted Doherty explains there are a number of factors that will go into any decision and they include things like the level of interest and the location of those interested. Doherty says they'll circulate the survey within the next month and expect to have responses back sometime in January.

Registration will be coming up at that time as well, so if everything fell into place it would be possible to launch an expanded program next fall.

The only French Immersion programs within the Avon Maitland Board at this time are in Stratford and that's because Stratford is the only area that has the density of population to make the program viable.
