The Leah's Wish and Brianna's Journey Blood Donor Clinic in Walkerton attracted 164 donors, with 151 units collected yesterday . Canadian Blood Services had a goal of 120 units for yesterday's event. A silent auction was also held at the Knights of Columbus hall, and it brought in $6,000 for Childcan to support families of children with cancer. 15 year old Leah Vandenbor was diagnosed with leukemia and needed 35 units of blood during her treatment. Leah tragically lost the battle with cancer in 2013. Her family has has been sponsoring a blood donor clinic and auction for Childcan in Walkerton in her memory for 11 years. In that time 1820 units of blood have been collected, and $50,000. raised for childcan Brianna Lacey was diagnosed with leukemia at four years old, and this year is celebrating the completion of her two years of treatment . On average, it can take up to five blood donors to help one child undergoing cancer treatment. It can take up to eight donors a week to help a child with leukemia.
