Crosses Taken Down At Station Beach In Kincardine

Less than 24 hours after four small white crosses were erected on Station Beach in Kincardine, they have been taken down.

They were erected to commemorate four drowning victims at the site over the past seven years.

Kincardine resident Graham Hancock says the removal is a sad commentary on the community and particularly on the lack of respect for the victims of drowning at Station Beach.

Hancock had hoped the crosses would serve as a warning to beach-goers about the power of Lake Huron's rip current that can take a life in a moment.

He also hoped the crosses would make people and politicians question if enough if being done to save more lives in the dangerous waters off Station Beach.
