North Wellington And Groves Memorial Health Care Services Will Merge

The Waterloo Wellington Local Health Integration Network wants North Wellington Health Care and Groves Memorial Community Hospitals to amalgamate by the end of this November.

At their recent meeting, the board received an update on the governance review for both organizations.

The LHIN says the goal is to resolve governance issues to ensure a high quality health system for rural Wellington residents.

The goal is to continue to offer health care services close to home, and the board says there are no plans to close hospitals or move hospital services.

However, it says there is significant risk to the current governance structure, which puts the financial and operational stability of both hospitals at risk.

Mark Rochon of KPMG conducted a review of the systems, and has been asked to work with the governors, staff and community to fully integrate the two governance structures.
