A delegation from Bluewater got a chance to discuss the importance of a rural lens in drafting provincial policy with Provincial Conservative Leader Patrick Brown at last week's Association of Municipalities of Ontario Conference in Niagara Falls.
Mayor Tyler Hessel says they just wanted to stress the role a rural lens plays in drafting legislation like the Provincial Policy Statement the overseas planning decisions in rural Ontario. In particular Hessel pointed how the current legislation restricts farm severances which is important for rural communities that want to create housing to keep families in rural Ontario.
Hessel adds the ability to sever land also creates additional income for farmers.
